Boston — The Boston-based real estate and hospitality investment firm The Mount Vernon Company (MVC), known for visionary hotel transformations, has acquired the John Carver Inn & Spa, a beloved 80-room property located in the heart of historic Plymouth, Massachusetts.

Originally opened in 1969 and most recently renovated in 2021, the John Carver Inn sits steps from Plymouth Rock and the Mayflower II, making it a key asset in the state’s heritage tourism corridor. Under Mount Vernon’s stewardship, the property will be repositioned and reimagined to deliver an elevated guest experience while honoring its storied history.

The transformation will be guided by Catalyst Hotel Marketing™, a proprietary marketing program developed by MVC founder Bruce A. Percelay. With a track record of turning underperforming assets into best-in-class destinations, Catalyst has been applied to a diverse portfolio of real estate and hospitality ventures throughout New England.

“The John Carver Inn represents exactly the kind of opportunity we look for—an established property in a unique location with tremendous potential,” said Percelay, Founder and Chairman of The Mount Vernon Company. “Our goal is to bring a fresh perspective to this asset and create a hospitality experience that reflects both the heritage and evolving future of Plymouth.”

The inn currently features a full-service spa, indoor pool, meeting and event space, fitness center, game room, on-site dining, and ample parking. Plans for repositioning will include refreshed interiors, enhanced amenities, elevated dining, and curated programming aimed at both leisure and group markets.

The acquisition aligns with Mount Vernon’s strategic focus on acquiring unique, historically resonant properties with strong potential for reinvention and market growth. The John Carver Inn joins Mount Vernon’s expanding portfolio of distinctive hotel assets, which includes the award-winning 76 Main Ink Press Hotel, 21 Broad, and 19 Broad on Nantucket, as well as the highly successful Revolution Hotel in Boston.

The John Carver Inn will be managed by Olympia Hospitality on behalf of Mount Vernon and will remain operational during the initial phase of planning, with renovation plans to be unveiled in coming months. Ruberto, Israel & Weiner’s Commercial Real Estate team, led by Michael Rosen, represented Mount Vernon in this transaction. The JLL Hotels & Hospitality team, led by Managing Director Alan Suzuki and Senior Director Matthew Enright, represented the seller.
