Wilmington — SEW-EURODRIVE has expanded its U.S. footprint with 4,136 square feet at 340 Fordham Road in Wilmington. The custom-built facility, SEW’s first Massachusetts location, will serve as a regional training and administrative center.
Founded in Germany in 1931, the family-owned manufacturer produces machine automation and power transmission solutions used across numerous industries worldwide. The company operates in 56 countries, with 17 production plants, 92 assembly centers, and more than 22,000 employees. In addition to the new Wilmington facility, SEW-EURODRIVE maintains a Northeast Region Assembly Center in Bridgeport, New Jersey. According to Cummings Properties leasing director Steve Cusano, regional connectivity played a key role in the site selection.
“The Fordham Road site offers SEW excellent highway access,” said Cusano, “providing a convenient training destination for vendors traveling from throughout New England.
Cusano negotiated the lease with Derek Cotoni of Moore Commercial. The agreement included a custom buildout to transform the space from an unfinished condition into a fully operational training center. “Having in-house design and construction professionals allowed us to efficiently deliver a turn-key facility, complete with dedicated electrical and a light R&D component,” said Cusano.
Located off I-93 at Exit 33, Cummings’ Wilmington business corridor offers direct connections to I-95, I-495, and two MBTA commuter rail lines. The Fordham Road campus is home to a diverse mix of manufacturers and distributors, including Burlington Machine, Hartley Botanic, Monogram Gourmet Foods, Roland DGA Corporation, and Weston & Sampson CMR.
