WALTHAM–Thomas Dusel, president and chief executive of Hobbs Brook Managment LLC, has been recognized by the Lions Club International as the recipient of the 2018 Melvin Jones Fellowship in recognition of his humanitarian contributions to the Waltham community. He accepted the award at the Waltham Chamber of Commerce’s Annual Public Officials Reception in May.

The Melvin Jones Fellowship Program was established in 1973 in honor of Melvin Jones, the founder of Lions Club International. The nationwide award is the highest form of recognition and embodies humanitarian ideas consistent with the nature and purpose of Lionism. The recipient becomes a model of exemplary service to his club and the community which it serves.

“It is an incredible honor to be recognized with an award of this caliber for my contributions to the Greater Waltham area,” extolled Dusel. “I believe community involvement builds a strong society. Each effort and donation make an impact…furthermore, it not only benefits the well-being of the community as a whole but fosters a personal sense of accomplishment and pride,” praised Dusel.

Tom was named a Waltham Business Hero in 2012 for his contributions to making Waltham a better place to live. He serves as the president of the Waltham Education and Beyond Foundation and sits on the board of the Reagle Players.

Hobbs Brook Management actively supports many non-profit organizations in Waltham and neighboring communities, including the Waltham West Suburban Chamber of Commerce Foundation, Greater Waltham Arc, Lions Club, Waltham Land Trust, Waltham Family School, Waltham Gridiron Club’s Scholarship Fund, Waltham Boys & Girls Club, Waltham’s Partnership for Youth, the Route 128 Business Council, the Waltham YMCA, in addition to several local police, fire, and rescue departments. Under Tom’s tutelage, Hobbs Brook Management also supports Waltham High School’s Football Team, donating $200 for every touchdown and $50 for every field goal, as well as the North Waltham Little League.
