Gleason Joins Berkadia in Effort to Expand Affordable Housing Platform

BOSTON—Berkadia recently announced the addition of Tom Gleason to its Affordable Housing team. In this role, he will coordinate the provision of affordable housing financing initiatives as Berkadia continues to grow its affordable housing platform.“We’re deeply committed to the affordable housing space and the vital role it plays in communities,” lauds Steve Ervin, Head of HUD Production at Berkadia. “2017 saw many exciting developments for our HUD and affordable lending teams. Gleason believes in Berkadia’s mission of developing and promoting affordable housing programs and looks forward to joining the team. “There’s a critical need for more affordable housing in communities across the country and Berkadia continues to be a leader in driving essential development and expansion in this sector,” he exclaims. “I’m excited to be a part of the continuing work that Berkadia is doing in the affordable housing space.”

Gleason joins Berkadia from the Massachusetts Housing Financing Agency, where he most recently served as Executive Director. In his nearly thirty years with the organization, Tom contributed to and managed its sustained growth, ultimately leading to its recognition as one of the top housing finance agencies in the country. During his time as Executive Director, Tom oversaw the closing of more than $12 billion in affordable financing, the most of any period in MassHousing’s history.

Gleason currently serves as a Board member of Massachusetts Housing Investment Corporation (MHIC). He has previously served in leadership and/or advisory capacities with the National Council of State Housing Agencies, Fannie Mae, Community Economic Development Assistance Corporation and New Lease for Homeless Families. Further, he has been recognized for his leadership and service by the New England Resident Service Coordinators, National Council of State Housing Agencies, Retirement Housing Foundation, and Great Boston Real Estate Board, among others.
