Greystar Holds Demo Ceremony for Largest Modular Residential Project In MA

Taunton — Greystar held a demolition ceremony to celebrate its latest project, the redevelopment of Whittenton Mills in Taunton, MA. The ceremony was held alongside Taunton Mayor Shaunna O’Connell, City of Taunton officials, and the Greystar construction team at the former mill site at 437 Whittenton Street. Through innovative modular construction, the property will be transformed into a new 390-unit apartment community that is set to become the largest modular residential project in Massachusetts.

Whittenton Mills has been the site of industrial and manufacturing uses since as early as the 17^th century. The demolition ceremony marked a significant step in restoring the vacant property to support the region’s growing population and create new housing opportunities in the City of Taunton. Demolition will be completed in July, and modular erection is expected to start late August 2026.

The first residents at Whittenton Mills are expected to move in during spring 2027, with full project completion anticipated by fall 2027.
