BOSTON–The Abbey Group today has selected JLL as the exclusive broker for Exchange South End, a new neighborhood destination that will provide a platform for connecting innovative companies, community, culture and green space in the South End life science arena.

The 5.6-acre urban campus, located at 540 Albany Street at the former Boston Flower Exchange site, will consist of four buildings totaling approximately 1.6 million square feet of mixed-use commercial and life sciences research space. The site, highly visible from Route 93, will also offer ground floor retail, incubator and civic space, as well as Albany Green, a one-acre public open space at the heart of the site.

Audrey Epstein Reny, Managing Partner at the Abbey Group, elaborated on the location and the future plans that the project holds. “The South End is a vibrant authentic neighborhood with an existing infrastructure of residential options, dining destinations, local retail, startup tech companies, creative agencies and power players in the life sciences including Boston Medical Center, Boston University’s Medical Campus, and Bio Square.” “Exchange South End will provide much-needed life sciences research space and office space that will connect the Albany Street corridor with the South End community, and we are excited to partner with JLL to help bring this new development to life,” praised Reny.

Bill Barrack, JLL Managing Director, praised the partnership with The Abbey Group. “One of the many reasons we’re excited about partnering with The Abbey Group on Exchange South End is that the project will make an already incredible neighborhood even better…it has every amenity and resource that life science and big tech companies are looking for to recruit the best talent.” “This is a tremendous opportunity to feed off of that energy and extend it …exchange South End has every ingredient to be a dynamic success,” affirmed Barrack.

The JLL Brokerage, Marketing, and Research team for Exchange South End consists of: Managing Directors, Bill Barrack and Matt Daniels, Executive Vice Presidents, Ryan Enright and Ben Coffin, Senior Vice President, Dan Cavanaugh, Senior Vice President, Stephen Steinberg, and New England Research Director, Julia Georgules.

The project received approval from the Boston Planning and Development Agency in August. Construction is projected to begin in the spring/summer 2019 and will be available for occupancy in the first half of 2021.
